NE2（中級）では、現代の奴隷売買についてのCNN 10のニュースを扱いました。
11月15日のCNN 10は、レポーターによる奴隷オークションへの潜入取材も含め一日の番組枠をすべて使って奴隷売買関連のニュースを報じました。政情不安や経済的困窮などの理由からアフリカ各地からヨーロッパをめざしてアフリカ北部のリビアまで来たものの、ここで万策尽きて奴隷取引の商品になってしまったのです。買いつけに来る人は、強制労働、強制売春、強制結婚などの目的に奴隷を使うということです。奴隷の競りが存在する現実に現代の過酷さを思い知らされます。

I think a novel can enrich our lives more than a practical guidebook. While guidebooks are about practical information that helps us do things actually, novels works on our imagination and bring us something more.
Novels are linguistic art and let us experience peculiar emotions and situations that our real life never bring. For example, if you follow the voices of different characters, you could feel you were another person in the story. You can become a teenage girl who suffers bullying in her classroom or an old dog kept by a struggling car racer.
Novels are good at carrying emotions in peculiar settings. You’ll experience things in deeper ways while reading one. This way your lives will be enriched.
