NE2（中級）では、「日本の総選挙と台風」というCNN 10のニュースを扱いました。
先日の衆議院議員選挙の投開票日には、大型の台風が各地で被害をもたらしました。強固な支持基盤を持たず浮動票に期待していた政党にとっては、悪天候による投票率の低さは大打撃になりました。このCNN 10のニュースはドラマチックな1日をコンパクトにドキュメントしてくれていたと思います。
NE2クラスのスピーキング課題のお知らせ
今回のお題は、「良い嘘もあれば、悪い嘘もある」という言説に賛成か否かを問うものです。
問題：
“There are good lies and bad lies.”
Do you agree or disagree with this statement?
It helps if you can give concrete examples in your answer."
時事的な話題から離れて身近なことを語っていただいても、ニュースの話題に結びつけて語っていただいてもかまいません。
ぶっつけ本番で挑もうとせずに、準備の手間を惜しまないことが上達の秘訣です。まずは、一人ブレーンストーミングで伝えたいポイントを列挙して、それを取捨しながら議論を組み立ててください。面白い議論を楽しみにしています！

I agree with the statement, but a lie is good only if it is given as an answer to malicious questioners and if telling the truth can harm someone. There're reasons for supporting my argument.
To give a famous example, Anne Frank's father Otto pretended himself in the Netherlands as non-Jewish to keep his family including his daughter Anne hidden and safe away from Nazi. That was the only way he could think of to survive the ethnic cleansing.
His lie to Nazi and German administrators was made to protect his family, and is a rare and good lie. Bad lies are often made from liars’ vanity or for deceitfully manipulating vulnerable people. Most lies are bad, but some exceptional lies can be good.
